Alex Bogaard

President, Brown & Brown of Washington

Alex Bogaard is the President of Brown & Brown of Washington and oversees the Seattle, Bellingham, and Lynden offices. He joined the Brown & Brown family of companies in 2010 after merging his agency with Brown & Brown of Seattle. Together with his leadership team, Alex continues to expand the reach and capabilities of Brown & Brown in WA. Alex and his leadership group have integrated several teams brought together through acquisitions, developing the Seattle office into one of the leading brokerage firms in the Northwest.

Alex has a Master in Business Administration from the Universite de Paris-Dauphine. His professional designations include Certified Insurance Consultant (CIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), and Construction Risk & Insurance Specialist (CRIS).

He is a proud husband and father whose leisure activities include photography, endurance sports and adventure travel. He has volunteered through Seattle Rotary, Seattle Executive Association, the BEDC at the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business, Outdoors for All and the Boy Scouts. He was an active member and past president of Seattle’s Entrepreneurs’ Organization, a member of NW Next Leaders Council and a 2008 winner of the Puget Sound Business Journal 40 Under 40 award. Alex has served on the boards of Outdoors for All, Young Entrepreneurs Organization (YEO), Group Health Foundation and Friends of Youth, an organization dedicated to providing a range of services to at risk youth. He currently serves on the boards of Seattle Executive Association and The Holocaust Center for Humanity.

Kelly Chavez

Benefits Leader

Kelly Chavez began her career in HR, as Benefits Coordinator for a small telecommunications company in Seattle. She then went on to work as an Account Manager at various national brokerages, coming to Brown & Brown in 2010. Kelly has been leading the Benefits Team since 2011. Her role is to be present to our customers and the Benefits Team on any operational matters, including questions regarding compliance, claims issues, billing concerns, and coverage questions. She is integral to working with your Brown & Brown team to develop tactics and strategies that work toward your organizational objectives. Kelly has a great eye for detail and is a strong champion for our customers and the employees we represent; handling claims questions and issues with discretion and rapid responses. Her areas of expertise include Health Care Reform and compliance, as well as Benefits technology.
